BBL and IPL
As we age, it’s normal to notice sun spots, age spots, increased redness, and hyperpigmentation appearing on the face. With BBL and IPL, you can be rid of these spots and genuinely look younger. At YourSkinRN in Kitchener, Ontario, we offer BBL and IPL treatment, including the Forever Young™ laser treatments.
About BBL and IPL
BBL (broadband light) and IPL (intense pulse light) both work by delivering pulses of light at different wavelengths. The light is attracted to areas of the skin with greater pigmentation. These are heated up, causing the cells there to gently flake away and be replaced by fresh, healthy skin with an even tone. These treatments also treat redness and small vein patches. The National Rosacea Society recognizes BBL as an effective way to manage this disease.
Before and After Results
Treatment Schedule and Results
Most people will need just one to two treatments spaced a month apart to see their optimal results. The number of treatments you need will depend on your personal rate of skin regeneration and the size of the area to be treated. After treatment, skin on the face takes between five and seven days to change and up to two weeks for areas of skin located off the face.
The Forever Young™ BBL Laser
The Forever Young™ device was developed by a California dermatologist who noticed that those who had BBL and IPL treatments once or twice a year for 10 years looked 10 years younger than their counterparts. Through extensive research, he determined that the broadband light was turning on telomere cells and activating anti-aging DNA cells in the body. This has the effect of stopping the clock on the skin’s visible aging by promoting the genes associated with longevity and healthy aging.
What Areas Can Be Treated With BBL and IPL?
This is a useful treatment for all kinds of skin conditions and rejuvenation needs. It can address:
- Sun damage
- Age spots
- Freckles
- Redness
- Unwanted hair
- Acne scars
- Small vessels
- Skin tone discolouration
What Is Treatment Like?
Treatment length depends on the areas being treated. Smaller areas can be done in just 15 minutes or less. During treatment, your eyes are protected as we run the BBL device over the area you want to have treated. Most patients don’t need a topical anesthetic; but talk to us if you’re concerned. Before your treatment, we’ll meet with you to discuss your goals and how this treatment can help.
Is There Downtime Involved?
There is no need to halt your regular schedule to seek treatment. You can go back to work and most activities immediately. We’ll give you instructions on caring for your skin, but the most important general instruction is to protect the skin from ultraviolet light for a few days. This means avoiding direct sun exposure, wearing sunscreen whenever outside, and avoiding tanning beds.
